Brighton and Hove Albion 0-0 Manchester United: Red Devils progress to FA Cup fifth round on penalties
Brighton and Hove Albion 0-0 Manchester United (United win 3-1 on penalties)
FA Cup fourth round - The Amex Stadium
Manchester United progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup on penalties as Alejandro Garnacho scored the winning spot-kick to earn a 3-1 shootout victory over Brighton and Hove Albion after a goalless draw at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
United goalkeeper David de Gea made three excellent saves to ensure Erik ten Hag's side made it through after a dour 120 minutes on the south coast, with Neal Maupay missing from the spot for the hosts.
De Gea denied Marc Cucurella, Deniz Undav and Pascal Gross to earn United the win, while Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes all converted their kicks.
There was little to separate the two sides on a cold night on the south coast, with United showing signs of improvement under Ten Hag but still lacking a cutting edge in the final third.
