ORANGE BEACH, Alabama - Scientists have finally solved the mystery surrounding the death of a pregnant 14-foot-long great hammerhead shark that washed ashore dead on April 20th at Orange Beach.
After extensive examination, ecologists determined that the shark had succumbed to injuries sustained after being caught in a fishing net. The shark, which was confirmed to be 14 feet long and pregnant with 29 pups, had been a critically endangered species.
